This covers the weeks from March 10 -April 20th, 2018. It provides a recap of the major events happening in each district that we feel the members need to be aware of/kept up to date. This article covers Baton Rouge, the Southwest District (Lafayette & Lake Charles), New Orleans, and the Northwest Region Baton Rouge: The past few weeks have been extremely busy in Baton Rouge and we certainly appreciate everyone that participated in our events. We had a near record crowd for our annual crawfish boil and most of the participants even waited through the rain to network and enjoy good company. Louisiana AGC would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Licensing Board for Contractors for their generosity in hosting our event. In addition to our Crawfish Boil the Baton Rouge District Charity Golf Tournament was sold out and our participants thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weather and challenging course at the University Club. Louisiana AGC is working now to calculate the money raised that will go to the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Earlier in the week Louisiana AGC met with all interested parties partaking in the construction on the new AGC Building as well as the Licensing Board for Contractors building being constructed next door. We are excited to report that both teams are working well together and we are looking forward to moving back into our North Street building sometime in early August. Looking forward, Louisiana AGC has a meeting with DOTD on Wednesday, April 25th to discuss the new Pavement Marking spec. On the building side, Louisiana AGC will be hosting a meeting discussing in depth the new AIA documents. We will hold a meeting in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Shreveport sometime in May. Preparing for the successful transition and ensuring everyone coming into office will be as up to speed as possible on the issues facing our industry. We are in constant communication. Other important issues within the district: •Reached out to City Attorney in New Orleans to discuss subcontract submittal requirement. The City is hesitant to alter any policy given the pending changeover of the entire municipal cabinet. CNO officials have sporadically enforced the requirement and have been informed of our position and subsequent requests for dialogue. We remain waiting for their response. •Met with Jefferson Parish Officials and received a catalogue of projects that will consist of $320M to make up their 2018 building program. •Hosted successful Crawfish boil with partners and members raving about the event.
